How to Apply

APPLICATION DATES/DEADLINES

Applications for Summer 2020 are CLOSED. Applications for Summer 2021 will be available in November 2020.

The deadline for applications and all materials, including recommendation letters, will be February 1, 2021, 11:59PM EST.


APPLICATION STEPS

Carefully read and review the Application System Instructions, before and during the application process.

  • Visit the application website link and register for a SurveyMonkey Apply account.
  • Select APPLY to start your application:
    • Fill out the LSI Perrigo Application Form
    • Upload Academic Transcripts: Upload a current copy of your undergraduate transcript(s) via the online system
        • Note: Transcript files should be named with the following structure: "Last Name, First Name - 'Name of College' Transcript" (ex. Jane Smith = Smith, Jane - Michigan Technological University Transcript)
    • Two Letters of Recommendation: Enter the names, email addresses, and a personal message for each of the two reference letter writers who agreed to submit letters on your behalf for the system to request letters of recommendation
        • You can submit your application before all recommendation letters are received, but all requests for letters must be sent out before you can submit your application.
    • Review and sign the Acceptance/Multiple Offer Agreement and submit your application for review.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Am I eligible to apply if I am a Michigan resident but attend a college/university outside of the state of Michigan?

No. To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled in a college/university located inside the state of Michigan, regardless of your state of official residency.


Can I submit my application/transcript(s) after the February 1st deadline?

Unfortunately, we will not accept applications received after February 1st, 11:59PM EST. Only applications that are entirely complete by the deadline will be reviewed. We recommend students submit their applications at least 3 business days before the deadline in order to account for any computing issues that may arise.


Can my writers submit their letter of recommendation after the February 1st deadline?

Unfortunately, we will not accept materials received after February 1st, 11:59PM EST. Only applications that are entirely complete by the deadline will be reviewed.


Am I eligible to apply if I graduate this spring but will continue taking classes in the Summer/Fall or as a non-degree seeking student?

If you graduate with an undergraduate degree any time before December 1, 2021, you would not be eligible to apply to the 2021 summer program.


When will I know if I've been accepted?

Applicants will be notified by email starting in February through early April. Due to the volume of applicants, we cannot give individual confirmation for application materials received. We appreciate applicants' patience as we make our final decisions. If you have not heard from us yet, no decision has been made on your application.


Can I select only one faculty member whose lab I'd like to work in over the summer?

No; every applicant must select at least 4 different faculty members they would be interested in working with over the summer. We do not allow students to select their own lab, but during the matching process your preferences, interests, and research background will be taken into careful consideration.
